Burnsville Elementary

Thanks to the generosity of Burnsville Public Library, eclipse-safe viewing glasses have been purchased for each student at Burnsville Elementary. With safety being the top priority, students will be required to wear these glasses while outside viewing the eclipse. No other glasses or viewing devices will be permitted. Forms will be sent home this evening. Please return this form no later than Monday, April 8th. ONLY RETURN THE FORM IF YOU DO NOT WISH FOR YOUR STUDENT TO PARTICIPATE.

Reminder: Tomorrow is the last day to bring in money for the Scholastic Book Fair.

We are having a Spring Break Carnival on Thursday, March 28th. Students, come to school before break and enjoy the all day fun! We will have inflatables, games, movie and more! This is a students only event.

BINGO tickets for April 20, 2024 are now available for purchase in the office at school. Cost is 20 games for $25.00.

REMINDER TO SEND IN PERMISSION FORMS BY FRIDAY. FORMS MUST BE SIGNED AND TURNED IN EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT ORDERING A PICTURE. We have a wonderful opportunity for our students to see exotic animals. Zoodles will be at BES Tuesday, March 26th at 9:30 for a 45 minute presentation for K-5th. PreK will follow the other grades to see the animals without the full presentation time. A blue permission form was sent home. Please return the form by Friday, March 22. This is event for students only.

Burnsville Elementary School online parent survey will be available from February 26 through April 12, 2024. Parents are asked to complete the online survey about school climate—the learning and teaching/working conditions—to help guide school improvement efforts. The results of this survey will be used to make changes in their child's school to ensure a supportive environment for teaching and learning. The survey may be completed from any computer with an internet connection. Your participation is voluntary. This is a reminder that Burnsville Elementary School will be hosting Family Math Night tomorrow, Thursday, March 14 from 5:00 to 6:30. We hope to see you there!

The last bus has now left Burnsville Elementary. Please be advised that buses may arrive home up to 15 minutes earlier. Please be sure to have someone at the bus stop to meet your student.

Don't forget tomorrow is school picture day.

Reminder: The state writing assessment for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students is next week. Please send in your note of encouragement no later than Monday morning. It means a lot to students to open an encouraging note from home before they take the test.

Dear BES Families, In honor of Read Across America Week we are inviting families to come read under the stars with their child/children on Monday, March 4. Each student will receive a new book for this event. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket and help us celebrate this special day! Burnsville Elementary School will be having a BINGO fundraiser on April 20, 2024 to help raise money for supplies, school functions, and student rewards. Each class will be doing a basket. If you are able, please send in items to match your student’s classroom by April 1, 2024. More details will be sent out later about the event. BES Families, this message is to inform you that students will bring home a Non-Traditional Instructional Day (NTID) packet today. Keep this in a safe place. In the event snow days exceed the number in the school calendar, we will use this packet. If students need to complete an assignment from the NTID packet, another notification will be sent with details. Again, please keep this in a safe location for future use.

BES students had a great time celebrating 100 Days of School today!

BES had a few furry visitors yesterday from the Animal Shelter and Just One Generation Cat Rescue! Our goal was to have 100 donated items and we received 103! Thank you to everyone that donated. They were very appreciative, and the students had a blast with the animals.

Dear BES Families, Your child is receiving a math kit provided by Braxton County Schools. The purpose of each math kit is to provide your child with materials to practice and review skills using hands-on manipulatives and resources. These kits are to be kept at home and used often. The resource kits are specific for each grade level. Students are familiar with the resources in their kit, and know how to use the manipulatives. Students will be able to use a number line to help with addition or subtraction, practice multiplication facts with the provided flash cards, practice spelling words on the dry erase board with the provided markers, practice counting money using the magnetic coins, and the list goes on.
