DES families, I would like to invite you to our November PTO Meeting on Thursday, November 9 at 4:00. Our school benefits so much from volunteers. We will be discussing upcoming events at DES. I want to send a personal shout out to our wonderful bus driver, Jeremy Cantrill. Jeremy goes above and beyond for our students at Davis Elementary. One day, he even circled around and parked on the other side of the street so our kids didn't have to walk in the rain. This morning he picked up a student to take to the high school that had missed their bus. Thank you Mr. Cantrill for always going above and beyond for the students at Davis.
Thank you to our wonderful community of Gassaway. You showed up big time for our students yesterday. We appreciate all of you so much. Our kids and staff are very thankful for your participation during our Halloween Parade. Thank you to all of our fabulous volunteers for working so hard to make a great Fall Carnival for all our students.
Tomorrow, October 31, DES Dragons will be celebrating Fall during our Fall Carnival. Remember if you signed up to be a volunteer, please be here by 8:00. Students will be participating in carnival stations during the morning, and our Annual Parade at 1:30. Remember students may wear their costumes. Just make sure to not add face paint or weapons with any costume. Family members are welcome to watch the parade along the sidewalks and then join their student in their classroom after the parade.

Tomorrow DES is celebrating Fire Safety with Gassaway Volunteer Fire Department.
We sincerely thank our volunteer fire department members. Remember to ask you child what they learned about Fire Safety when they return home.

Come out and join us for our October PTO meeting. The meeting begins at 4:00 in the cafeteria. Every class that has their teacher and at least 1 guardian in attendance earns 10 minutes of extra recess on Wednesday. The class with the most attendance earns 15 minutes of extra recess. Today, Davis Elementary students brought home a flyer about our Duck Derby fundraiser. Students can buy 1 duck for $5 or a "quack pack of 5 ducks" for $20. We will release the ducks and have them race down the river later on this month. Students get to choose there very own duck if they choose to purchase one for the race. We have a variety of ducks for them to choose from. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 3 is Picture Day at Davis Elementary School.
This week Davis Elementary is participating in Spirit Week with BCHS. Monday is Mosey Monday. So where your comfy clothes or pjs. Also, feel free to attend the Homecoming Parade Thursday @ 6:00 in Gassaway. Lastly, our school will be traveling to the high school field on Friday for a county-wide pep rally.
